Question Worried about GPU..

Hi!

I have tried this game at a friends house during the beta-weekends and I was woundering this:
I don't have a computer of my own yet, and are to get a Laptop through school: Athlon 64 3400+ processor,512MB (2x256),GeForce FX Go5700 64MB

And im concerd if this gpu will handle Guild Wars? I'm pretty sure the rest will however ;-).
Guild Wars support asked of me to check the forums but I have not found anyone that's said anything about the GO-series.

Best regards

I don't think you would have an issue. Of course, desktop computers are still preferred for gaming.

When I asked the support, they replied with this.

"Thanks for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support. Unfortunately, Guild Wars does not directly support mobile graphics-chipsets like your Nvidia go, or the ATI mobility series."

Which is why I asked in a public forum, hopeing that someone would have experience in this matter .
Otherwise I totally agree with your view MaglorD.

To be honest, don't see why you'd have ANY problems. Basically all that is is the notebook version of the FX 5700. And a full-version FX 5700 64 MB card shouldn't have any problems at all with GW, so don't see why they mobile version would.

FX G0 5700 is directX 9 compatible and a whole slew of stuff really. check out the nVidia website for their pages and info on the GeForce FX Go5x00 series of notebook video cards - you can also do a google search to see a whole slew of pages of info, reviews, etc for this card.

Frankly, if I can play GW with a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB @ 4xAGP.. don't see why that notebook video card couldn't run it easily :P (according to TomsHardware, the FX 5700 out-does my card in UT2004 *nods* (note, it only shows tests for 8xAGP, so mine would be worse since it's only running at max of 4x))

Im currently running GuildWars on my laptop.

Here are the specs for it:
HP 7020
17inch Screen
80GB HD
1GB RAM
GeForce FX Go5600 w/64MB of its own independent vid ram
GW currently is running at near max graphics at 1440x900.

Let me tell you there's nothing like gaming on Widescreen format. The game is beautiful!

Default Geforce Go 6150

Hi!

I'm running on:
HP Pavilion tx1308nr

Vista Home Premium
AMD Turion x64 1.9ghz
DX10
1gig ram
Geforce Go 6150

GW is running like crap with only 14-20 fps on a good day and lotsa lag.
Is it just because of the crappy video card or is it because of vista?

To the OP - your half-gig of RAM is going to be the most troublesome aspect. Especially if (as expected) the idiots pre-install Vista.

I just want to let you guys know this thread is a month shy of being 3 years old. Lol.

But to Kazi, that video card kind of sucks so don't expect good performance from it, 10-20 FPS is what I'd expect from that, If that even. I don't think Vista has that much influence on it, but who knows.
